Meeting the market needs

Strong relationships between suppliers and those who procure goods and services for local government are aimed at achieving common goals and mutual benefits. These include legal, due diligence and probity systems, well researched product information, a clear understanding of council needs to expedite contract preparation and ongoing overview of supplier performance.

Only after a rigorous process designed to ensure the highest standards do suppliers achieve the status of approved contractors.

This has seen iPLATINUM nominated as an approved contractor in NSW under LGP1008-2 by which it provides consulting services, iFerret and iArchive. Under Queensland’s Local Buy scheme it is approved to provide consulting services and iFerret .

iPLATINUM ensures that all software products and services support the needs of councils, large or small, suburban or regional.

In some jurisdictions those software products and services are key tools for addressing the reform and amalgamation being demanded by State government.

The rollout of new products and technologies such as iFerret is evidence of our ongoing commitment to the high level of funding required to develop solutions that meet the needs of the Australasian local government sector.

iFerret’s functionality to meet the growing need for public access to local government information exemplifies this. iPLATINUM responded to the NSW Government Information Public Access act (GIPA) by enhancing the functionality of iFerret. Read more

Using information to drive good governance

In a growing number of jurisdictions, the community is calling on local government to embrace a more open approach to gaining access to information. While this approach may go by various names, its objective is to maintain and advance a system of responsible and representative democratic Government that is open, accountable, fair and effective.

The Government Information (Public Access) Act of NSW exemplifies the thrust of this approach by :

• authorising and encouraging the proactive release of information by NSW public sector agencies
• giving members of the public a legally enforceable right to access government information
• ensuring that access to government information is restricted only when there is an overriding public interest against releasing that information.
